Who We Are

FWbuilders is a design build and construction management company offering general contracting services to the commercial market of Western Canada.

FWbuilders (FWb) is a part of the Franworks Group of Companies, located in Calgary and Edmonton and operating across Western Canada. Our project management group are experienced in all provinces across Canada and areas of the US.

We specialize in commercial construction with a strong emphasis on design-build utilizing our in house design department. This, coupled with our years of experience, when applied to your design requirements, results in a quality project. We are also practiced in dealing with professional design and engineering teams already directly employed by our Clients.

Our team of professionals cover all aspects of construction including: field operations, bid procurement, financial analysis & management, Municipal, Provincial, and Federal Construction Legislation, and Lease/Tenant Agreements.

    Design and Engineering

    Our in-house design department consists of our design manager backed by three full-time architectural technicians. This team are proficient in assessing your site conditions, corporate needs and technical requirements to provide you with a design which best suit you.

    Once you have the basics conceived we can then bring in our associated engineering and architectural professionals. This team provide the peace of mind which comes with knowing your product, apart from looking great, will perform to the highest standards for many years.

    As the design team is in-house and the engineering and architectural crew work with us on a daily basis we are able to pass on the economies of scale which are typically only available to large scale.

  • Handover

    Ok we’re all done – see you later? At FWb we see every project as a progression in our relationship with you. Our warranty covers more than the time it takes to pull out of the parking lot, we’re there when you need us.

    Due to our evolution being largely in the restaurant side of the business – we understand that a faulty piece of equipment or damage has an immediate effect on your company and your relationship with your customers and clients. Having such a strong team of trades around us and being focused on the Calgary market allows us to react to your needs and provide solutions and fixes and really keep the bond strong between client and builder.

    At turnover we also provide a full document binder with contacts, drawings, contractual paperwork and maintenance records so you can have fingertip access to information should it be required or even just as a record when you start to look at the next project on the horizon.

    We get it – if we look after you you’ll repay the relationship as your business expands.

    Once everything is in place FWb will bring to bear its years of expertise in the industry to make the most challenging part of any project as smooth and efficient as possible for you. Physically building your vision is what drives us every day and we use this chaotic and sometimes stressful period to really build our relationship with you.

    We pride ourselves in delivering a well communicated and documented project. Whether you are heavily involved or never on-site, we will ensure that you’re kept fully informed of what is happening, where we are in terms of schedule and budget as well as involving you fully in all aspects of the build.

    Cost controls are essential to every Client and Contractor, if there is a change in design or an unknown condition we will make sure you’re the first to know all of the implications and solutions. With regular reviewing and adjustments your project will be delivered to all parties satisfaction – guaranteed.

    Lease, Planning and Development

    OK so you’ve got your layout set, what next? Our upper management team can help guide you through the next stages of your project if you require. In many instances we have been involved at early lease negotiation and are often asked to review or act in our Clients interests when ensuring the Client/Landlord relationship is being maintained in a healthy and beneficial manner.

    Our expertise can be provided in assessing the condition of the building which you are about to move in to. In addition we are often requested to review building handover in relation to the Lease document itself or with a view to assessing the feasibility compared to the design.

    Once consensus has been made we are happy to help complete your Building and Development Permit processes.

    At FWb we have a strong team of people who are solely focused on getting you the best bang for your buck. Our lead estimator is backed not only by our senior management team but also a core group of trades with whom we enjoy favourable rates and a wealth of construction experience.

    Regardless if we assisted you prior to the tender stage, we can review and advise on cost, time and quality issues at the tender stage. This early communication helps us to know you better as well as start to build the teamwork frame which is essential to every successful project.

    Due to the volume of work which we do with restaurants we have very close ties with some of the largest suppliers in North America. These ties allow us to share with you the type of discount only the largest brand names usually enjoy.
